Daniel Duddy joined Middlesex University through Clearing in 2010, choosing a three year BSc Biosciences course. He graduated in 2013 with a First Class Honours and was later awarded a Top Student Award.
Middlesex University caught up with Daniel to find out a little more about his experience of Clearing.
How did you find going through Clearing?
Clearing was a surprisingly smooth experience, it was quick and I was guided through it seamlessly by the Middlesex Clearing team. After a brief phone call, I received a welcome pack to my house with all the information enclosed. I found it much less of a hassle than UCAS applications.
Why did you choose Middlesex?
I selected Middlesex for the newly built state of the art campus, the depth of reputable academics and the variety of modules within the course. It is now the highest ranked modern London university for research, and provides great prospects for graduates.
Shortly after I began my course I realised Middlesex was actually a better destination than my initial UCAS choices. Middlesex is a fantastic institute to study at, it has all the staff, facilities and support to give a springboard for a great career or further study.
What are you up to now?
After working in a laboratory for a year, I am now undertaking research specialising in paediatric disease.
What top tip would you give students that are going through Clearing?
My top tip for students would be to research the course you're applying for and make sure it is right for you, as enrolling on a course for the sake of it will only cause problems later.
