The department of economics at MDX is one of the most progressive and vibrant economics departments in the UK. Our academics are internationally renowned for their ground-breaking research. Our students learn in a stimulating and engaging environment where economic theories come to life with our emphasis on student participation in the classroom. We believe in making learning Economics interactive and exciting. We have developed important connections with representatives of the financial and economic world, who contribute to the development of new modules. We aim at providing students with important skills for their future career by engaging with industry practitioners.

The department hosts the Sustainable Development Research Cluster and weekly seminars in behavioural and applied economics.
