Qualified and experienced in cognitive behavioural stress management therapy and training and using focus groups for data collection, questionnaire design for audits and surveys and statistical data analysis.

Also taught research methods and statistics for many years and applied cognitive psychology for Human Computer Interaction developments. Currently supervising research doctorate students in the following areas: stress and coping strategies, coaching, individual differences and personality, and emotional intelligence.
Investigations into the relationship between assessment method and academic performance in psychology and assessing the role of learning styles in determining student performance under different methods of assessment. An investigation of the psychometric properties of the Learning Style Questionnaire is in press.
External research collaboration with a forensic mental health practitioner and a consultant clinical psychologist has led to the evaluation of admission, discharge and follow-up data of 166 residents of an independent psychiatric hospital. Results and recommendations arising from this research are reported in a paper currently being revised for the Journal of Forensic Practice.
Current research focuses on emotional intelligence and its relationship with stress, coping and psychological well-being in the workplace is centred around police-work and performance.
