Alan was trained as a designer at Hornsey College of Art. His professional career has included work as a designer and craftsman in the jewellery and optics industries. He has run his own design and manufacturing company, as well working as a manager for a large wholesale and manufacturing jewellery company. His academic work has included roles in learning and teaching development, curriculum management and programme leadership. Alan was a core member of the Centre for Excellence in Work Based Learning and managed the HEFCE Strategic Development Funded project in the School of Arts and Education.
Alan is a Registered Practitioner of the Higher Education Academy.
Learning & Teaching Interests
Alan teaches on professional practice programmes within the school of Media and Performing Arts.
Research Outputs & Interests
Current research is focused on professional practice across a range of Arts disciplines, with specific interest in the transdisciplinary attributes for professional work common to different disciplinary fields of practice.
