Dr Elena Martellozzo is a Criminologist and specialises in sex offenders' use of the internet and online child safety. She offers regular expert advice to the London Metropolitan Police and Italian Police Force (Polizia di Stato and Carabinieri). In 2012 was made an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Kent, Centre for Child Protection.
Elena has work extensively with children, serious offenders and practitioners. She has conducted ground breaking research for the London Metropolitan Police (2010), the National Audit Office and the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (Davidson, J. et al. 2009) and the Kingdom of Bahrain (Davidson, J. Martellozzo, E. 2010). In 2012 she completed a piece of research on behalf of the London Metropolitan Police to advance Internet investigators' performance through the understanding of children and sex offenders' online activities.
Her work includes the analysis of online grooming, distribution of indecent images and police practice in this area. She has also assessed police safety campaigns about use of the web aimed at children and has worked with children on their perception of the internet and looked at their safety when using it. She currently lectures in research methods (both undergraduate and postgraduate) and Organised Crime and Corporate offenders.

Dr Elena Martellozzo is interested in supervising PhDs in any of her specialist areas (child sexual abuse, online grooming, policing and victimology) and welcomes informal enquiries from potential doctoral students.
