Dr Lola-Peach Martins joined the HRM Academic Group, Middlesex University in March 1999. She previously worked for The Royal Armouries as Personnel Assistant, and later deputised as Personnel Manager. Lola-Peach later joined British Airways as a recruitment/selection executive, recruiting Pursers, working alongside Cabin Service Directors (CSDs) throughout the process. She later joined a Large UK Pet Food Company where she was responsible for establishing and managing their HRM department, partnering with Engineering Team Leaders with core HRM responsibilities. In 1996/1997 she gained full support and funding from the UK's Government and Kodak PLC for her project which was designed to assist long-term unemployed people in finding gainful work, developing transferable skills, and therefore developing and retaining their employability potential.
Lola-Peach is an avid academic/researcher in Managerial Leadership Development and focuses on the nature of the changing managerial leadership role, and Strategic HRM vis-à-vis the managerial leadership role.
In celebration of Management Decision's 50th Anniversary, highlighting the importance of research and impact, Dr Martins' research paper "A Holistic Framework for the Strategic Management of First Tier Managers" was listed by Emerald as their most down loaded paper (over 46,000 downloads).
The type of research she enjoys are context –sensitive research, reality versus rhetoric, impact analysis, cost implications, policy development, and practice, strategy and implementation, factor analysis, innovative methodologies.
