Dr Nathan Fretwell joined Middlesex University in June 2016. Prior to that he taught on undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in Education at London Metropolitan University. He has substantial experience of undertaking funded research and has previously worked as an educational researcher at the Institute for Policy Studies in Education, London Metropolitan University. Nathan has a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Essex and is an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Nathan teaches across the BA Education Studies and BA Early Childhood Studies degree programmes. He has teaching specialisms in education and family policy; philosophy; sociology of education and social theory; and alternative education.
