Nawaz Khan is Senior Lecturer in Computer Science at Middlesex University and Programme Leader for M.Sc. Business Information Systems Management. He was awarded a Ph.D scholarship in 1999 to pursue his doctoral research and completed his Ph.D in 2004. His Ph.D in computer science research focused on data retrieval based on context mapping in the area of Bioinformatics. Nawaz has been University Link Tutor for STC (Malta), academic collaborative partner at Malta (2009-2013), which is now operating as Middlesex University Malta Campus. He played a leading role to promote information literacy and students' engagement through education technology at western Balkan countries as a project member to EU funded TEMPUS initiative. He attended information literacy events in EU and western Balkan countries as a key speaker, trained academics and librarians to promote the use of education technologies in teaching and learning. Nawaz's research works include analytics and information retrieval based on context mapping. He published numerous articles in well reputed journals and conferences. Nawaz attended well-reputed conferences as a speaker and chaired scientific sessions on Bioinformatics, Fuzzy logics and Medical Databases. Nawaz participated in funded projects and actively engaged in post-graduate research supervision.

Nawaz is a certified online education facilitator. He enhances students' engagement in learning by aligning teaching and learning with the education technologies. He has participated in module and programme developments related to the information systems and information technology. He took a lead role for developing MSc service science and attended many programme validation programmes as a member of review panel at on campus and in overseas.
Nawaz Khan's research area mainly focuses on the large scale data analytics using context awareness for decision making. He works in close association with 'Intelligent Environment' and 'Artificial Intelligence' research clusters of the faculty. Nawaz's researches are applied on the medical condition management and on the areas of assistive living where contexts mapping can be applied for case reasoning and decision making. In the context of large data management, Nawaz's particular interest is in the fields where data analytics can be applied for chance and risk discovery. Nawaz's research outputs are disseminated through many well reputed publishers, ie. Springer, Elsevier, ACM etc. He has attended and chaired numerous well reputed scientific conferences, it includes IEEE, Springer and ACM conferences. Nawaz chaired scientific sessions like Fuzzy System and Fuzzy Logic, Medical Data Mining, Bioinformatics etc in IEEE conferences. He is a programme committee member of many conferences, i.e. Pattern Recognition in Bioinformatics, International Conferences on Health Informatics etc.
