Dr Aaron Lawson is a Senior Lecturer in Environmental Health at Middlesex University, having previously worked in various technical roles within the private and public sector, and has held both research and teaching roles at Ulster University, Northern Ireland.

Aaron’s main lecturing and professional interests are in public health, hygiene and sanitation within the built environment and health promotion. He is particularly interested in human hand hygiene behaviour and compliance within public settings post-COVID-19, as well as how social inequalities can affect health outcomes across the UK and beyond.
Wider interests include Environmental Protection and Sustainable Development; including how we can work build more resilient, sustainable communities.
Aaron is a Fellow of the Higher Education Authority (FHEA) and seeks to improve the learning and teaching experience through the use of novel methods and technologies.
Aaron’s primary research interests are in public health, hygiene and sanitation; where he has published a number of peer-reviewed journal articles at presented research at both local, national and international conferences.
Aaron recently worked on a national public health/food safety research project funded on behalf of Safefood Ireland looking into hand hygiene behaviour and compliance in various public settings, as well as exploring the design and effectiveness of behavioural interventions.
