Dr Lijun Zhao is Lecturer in Law in Middlesex University School of Law. She pursued her legal education in the UK (PhD – Bangor), Germany (Max Planck Institute) and China (LLB, LLM and MPhil in law). Before joining Middlesex University, Dr Zhao was a visiting researcher at Harvard Law School (IGLP), Swansea University, and Cardiff University.
Dr Zhao has expertise in commercial and maritime law. She has experience in teaching many undergraduate and postgraduate courses, such as WTO law, EU law, International Sales of Goods, English Legal System, Contract, Insurance, and Maritime Law. Since 2010, she has worked as a Teaching Assistant in the University of Wales, Bangor, covering modules, seminars and workshops, in areas like Contract law, WTO law, EU law, International Trade Law, Competition Law and Maritime law. She can also lecture on Charter-parties, Maritime Cargo Claims, Marine Insurance, Research Methods and Academic Writing.Dr Zhao has had many articles published in international peer-reviewed journals. In the area of global trade law, the recent publications of her research were 'Uniform Seaborne Cargo Regimes – A Historical Review' inJournal of Maritime Law and Commerce, and 'Transportation, Cooperation and Harmonization' inPace International Law Review. As a member of the Society of Legal Scholars and the British Society of Comparative Law, she has delivered many conference presentations at international conferences (e.g. Annual WTO Conferences, the SLS annual conferences, other conferences held in Boston, Cologne, London, Edinburgh, Keele, Southampton, Sussex, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Qingdao, etc). In addition, some of her articles have been archived by the UN library, and indexed in the UNCITRAL bibliography on international trade and maritime law.
