    Capturing the Moment: Hannah Nagle

Final year BA Photography student Hannah Nagle has already received media attention for her intimate, evocative photographs. She shares some insights into what inspires her work.

Hannah Nagle photographer"I use photography to exorcise demons!" says third year photography student Hannah Nagle of her final year project. "I explore emotion through my work; it needs to have a personal connection."

Hannah works with traditional analogue film rather than digital photography, believing it creates more resonance with the viewer. She is fascinated by the relationship between photography and the internet. Technologies like Snapchat and Instagram have made images disposable, but this has only made the real art of photography more powerful.

"I think we need to change the definition of what a photographer is," she says. "I want to capture images that are special, that people will want to go back and look at again and again."At Middlesex, Hannah has found the ideal environment to perfect her skills. "The facilities are amazing and the technical staff really encourage you to explore, experiment and push yourself out of your comfort zone," she says. "I really feel that I can build a career from a solid foundation."
