Education Partnerships with Middlesex University Copthall School

Welcome to the Middlesex Department of Education website for the Teacher Education Partnership which has been designed to share information with current and prospective school partners.

    Becoming a Partner

We are always delighted to welcome new partners and support school improvement planning. There are many different opportunities for partnership working, ranging from working with our Initial Teacher Training courses through to involvement with school-based research. Our education team has expertise in a wide range of areas.

Our highly successful School Direct programme has seen 73% of our most recent cohort of trainees graded as 'outstanding' and 23% as 'good'. We work genuinely in partnership with our school alliances to train the teachers of the future. Find out how to work in partnership with Middlesex through our School Direct scheme.

    Partnership Steering Group (PSG)

The Middlesex University Partnership Steering Group is an advisory group where representatives from partnership schools meet termly to work with us in developing the provision and sharing good practice.

Routes to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

We also offer a taster course for applicants interested in applying for teaching.

    Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS)

We have routes to Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS) available at Middlesex University, depending on your qualifications - including assessment-only, undergraduate and graduate routes. Find out more here.

    School Placements

Our school partners provide school-based training with regular school placement opportunities for our trainees arranged via our placement team. Please see our primary and secondary placement flyers for further details.

For all documentation supporting the school-based elements of our training courses, visit our Primary and Secondary pages.

    Mentor Development

Our school partners provide experienced practitioners who work with us to mentor our training and newly qualified teachers in the school setting. We aim to provide a tailored training programme for these mentors and have developed a framework for mentor development. This includes regular training and updates. Training either takes place in a central location or by request in the school setting. We are also keen to support other mentoring and coaching interests.

    Continuing Professional Development

In collaboration with our partners, we offer a suite of CPD and Masters-level courses. Our aim is to build courses and development opportunities around the needs of our partnering educational establishments.

    NQTs

The majority of the teachers we train are offered employment within our partnership schools. We work hard to maintain contact and support this transition through our NQT Club and NQT days.

    CERS

The Centre for Education Research and Scholarship (CERS) acts as a hub for staff and students, with a focus on research and scholarship that is educational, multi-disciplinary and practice-based.
