MSc Criminology with Forensic Psychology student Shannon Ross 'wouldn't be at Middlesex' without scholarship fundingFor Middlesex University postgraduate student Shannon Ross, receiving the Dean's Academic Excellence Scholarship from Professor Joshua Castellino, Dean of the School of Law, has meant the difference between leaving education prematurely and fulfilling a lifetime's ambition.
"Without the scholarship I couldn't be at Middlesex," Shannon says. "It's allowed me to finish my education properly, because after I finished my BA in Criminology at Essex I didn't feel ready to go into work. I've always been interested in doing a masters and by having a scholarship it allowed me to do that."
As for the course itself, Shannon, who wants to work in the police service, has been delighted with all aspects of the MSc in Criminology with Forensic Psychology thus far.
"It's been really interesting," she says. "I've always enjoyed psychology and law, so mixing the two together was perfect for me. It ties in really nicely to my undergrad degree, while bringing in a lot of new material, and the lecturers make all the modules really interesting."
Dean's Academic Excellence Scholarships are worth up to 50 per cent of the masters fee and are awarded to UK and EU applicants on the basis of academic or professional excellence, as well as their potential to succeed.
