About the Business School

The roots of Middlesex University Business School lie in the Hendon Technical College (one of the founding component colleges of Middlesex University) located on the Hendon campus. The College opened in 1939 in the College Building, which now forms the stunning centrepiece of our campus with its interior quadrangle covered by a glass roof.

The College’s Department of Management Studies introduced the BA Business Studies degree in 1965. This was the first course in the UK launched under a new government blueprint for business programmes. Within two years, the Middlesex course had become the largest Business Studies degree in the UK.

Local area history

The Hendon campus is located in an historic area of London. Hendon has been settled since Roman times. Until the 18th century it was a village on the outskirts of London and a favourite location for country houses.

Evidence of history is preserved in neighbouring buildings, including the Church Farmhouse Museum, a 16th Century farmhouse located directly opposite the campus.
