Introduction to the Department of Criminology & sociology
Criminology and Sociology combines the study of crime, deviance and social control, with those of wider sociological interests, ideas and concerns in relation to a range of different social issues. The Department of Criminology and Sociology is an interdisciplinary group including a range of criminological and sociological subject areas.

The Department supports over sixteen undergraduate and postgraduate taught programmes, including distance learning provision; and has a range of topics being studied by its MPhil/PhD research students.

Research
Our teaching staff have established an excellent record in the development and delivery of our Criminology and Sociology programmes. This is supported by our active research department, which form an integral part of the Criminology and Sociology Department at Middlesex.  Our staff are actively engaged in research on a number of topical issues which benefits our students.

EMDAS is a key EU funded project taking place within the department.
