The Department of Midwifery, Child Health and Primary Care provides Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses, modules and study days for midwives, nurses and other health professionals at pre and post qualifying levels.

We specialise in teaching & research in : Nursing and midwifery at all levels, with a wide range of subject material delivered by specialists in their field. Our Specialist areas include:
- Neonatal care;
- Domestic Violence and Pregnancy;
- Female Genital Cutting;
- HIV and AIDs;
- Women’s Health;
- Safeguarding Children ;
- Child Health Promotion
Research
We actively research both teaching & learning and also relevant subject areas. These include personal experiences of midwives and how these impact on care, experiences of student midwives in a sexual health placements.
In 2008 the national Research Assessment Exercise (RAE), found that 75% of Nursing and Midwifery research at Middlesex was ‘judged to be at an international standard in terms of originality, significance and rigour, which has made or is likely to make a significant contribution to knowledge, theory, practice or policy’ - and much of it was rated higher.
