Introduction to Social Sciences at Middlesex
The Department of Social Sciences is a large, interdisciplinary group including specialists in a range of social science subject areas.  The group comprises around thirty academic and research staff working on a number of innovative developments in research and enterprise, curriculum development and delivery. The Department delivers around 25 undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has a large number of research students.  Staff are engaged in a number of research and enterprise activities including projects funded by research councils, local authorities and charities. Research in the department was highly rated in the last Research Assessment Exercise with 50% of the work submitted described as internationally excellent.

Special features / Achievements

Our key teaching and research areas are: Social Policy; Housing & Regeneration; Tourism (Hendon & Dubai); Development Studies; Sustainable Environmental Management; International Politics and International Relations; Research Methods.

Research
Our staff are research active and we have two key research centres: Social Policy Research Centre & Flood Hazard Research Centre.
