Centre for Excellence in Work Based Learning
About CEWBL
As one of 74 Centres for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) awarded to universities in England by the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) in 2005, the CEWBL aims to maximise the impact of excellent practice in Work Based Learning within Middlesex University and to provide a catalyst for dissemination of good practice with other Centres for Excellence and The Higher Education Academy. We are positioned at the leading edge of developing and rewarding teaching and learning which is directly related to the demands of knowledge-driven economies.
Our aims
Within Middlesex University we aim to enhance, extend and customise work-based learning by building upon the award-winning work of the Institute and the WBL and Accreditation unit in the School of Health and Social Sciences. Our aims are to:

- develop and provide excellent teaching and learning resources, including online materials
- lead innovation and scholarly practice in the WBL curriculum in higher education; for example, by working with transdisciplinary knowledge and supporting knowledge-creating partnerships
- recognise and reward staff for excellence in teaching and learning
- stimulate good practice.
