You will need to make a written application for admission to a Work Based Learning programme; you can download a form from this page or contact our admissions office for an application pack. There are two intakes (September and February) per academic year, but start dates are negotiable for organisations. We are able to take new students up to two weeks after teaching has started but no later. After this you will not have enough time to complete the first module(s) so we recommend that you start at the next opportunity.

Completing your application form

Fill out the Middlesex University application form, naming Work Based Learning Studies as your chosen programme. Identify your first module from this list:

  • WBS 2803 for claims at undergraduate level, for experiential learning
  • WBS 3002 for claims at undergraduate level, for credit-rated learning [HND, foundation degree]
  • WBS 4802 for claims at postgraduate level, for experiential learning
  • WBS 4811 for claims at postgraduate level, for credit-rated learning only [PG diploma]

If you wish to take the module on a distance-learning basis (not attending at the University) state ‘distance learning’ on the application form.

Complete your application with:

  • a personal statement that outlines why you wish to take a Work Based Learning Studies programme
  • your CV and copies of qualifications
  • your completed referee form
  • if applicable, written confirmation from your employer that they are willing to sponsor your study.

What happens next

Your application will be considered by the appropriate programme director before being passed to the Admissions Department who will write to you with the decision. If you are offered a place you will need to return your acceptance within two weeks so that we can complete your registration and send you further information about enrolment and your learning materials. This process normally takes between three and six weeks according to the time of year.
