The Institute for Work Based Learning
I am very pleased to welcome you to the Middlesex University Institute for Work Based Learning.
International leadership
We are very proud to be an internationally recognised centre of excellence in the use of work based learning to create innovation and achieve the development objectives of organisations and individuals.
Track Record of Success
Middlesex University pioneered the development of work based learning at higher education level during the early 1990s. The University has been awarded a Queens Prize for excellence and innovation for work based learning and has been recognised as a centre for excellence in teaching and learning in the field of work based learning by the Higher Education Funding Council for England. In 2003 and 2009 Middlesex was commended by the UK Quality Assurance Agency for its work based learning programmes. In 2009 the Higher Education Funding Council for England awarded Middlesex £8million to establish the Middlesex Organisational Development Network (MODNet). MODNet is a networked organisation centred upon Middlesex University, designed to meet the learning needs of employers. The Institute for Work Based Learning manages MODNet on behalf of the University.
