IELTS preparation courses

We offer three types of IELTS preparation course:

One week intensive course: This is a full time, one week course. Hours of study are Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 4.30pm. It is suitable for candidates taking the Academic module. This course includes 30 hours of tuition and a full practice test with personal feedback. The course fee is £250.

Two week evening course: This is a part-time, two week evening course. Hours of study are Monday to Thursday, 5.30 to 8.30pm. It is mainly suitable for candidates taking the Academic module, but candidates for the General Training module will also find it useful. This course includes 24 hours of tuition and a full practice test with personal feedback. The course fee is £200.

One day course: Everything you need to know about IELTS plus guided practice test, in one day. This course takes place on a Saturday, 9.30am to 4.30pm. We give you information on the format of the test and how it is marked. We then work through the Official IELTS Practice Materials 2 book, looking in detail at all four modules of the test (Academic version only). You will get tips on the most common mistakes that IELTS candidates make, and detailed advice on how best to do the reading and writing tests. This one day course is especially suitable for candidates who have never done the test before, or who have had difficulty achieving the level they require. The cost of this course is £60 and includes a book and DVD.

Please note:

The five day and two week courses are mainly appropriate for candidates taking the Academic module only, although we do accept candidates who are planning to take the General Training version of the test.
Minimum class size: six, maximum class size: 12 (there is no limit to the number of people on the one day course).
Participants on the evening courses can also use the self-study material at the Test Centre during the daytime.
All courses are taught by highly qualified university staff with IELTS experience.
You will need to apply separately to take the IELTS test.

If you have applied to do the test with us, you can come to the Testing Centre at Hendon during our office hours and use the IELTS preparation materials that we have (a wide selection of IELTS preparation books and CDs/tapes). There is no charge for this.

Preparation reading materials

You can buy the Official IELTS Practice Materials book from us. This includes a DVD, and costs £12. It has examples of all the types of questions you will find in an IELTS test, plus model answers.

You can also buy the IELTS Top Tips book from us. This includes a CD, and costs £12. It has tips and advice on how to pass the test. You can buy either the Academic version or the General Training version.
