TTA Funded Project - £20,000
Video conferencing with Mentors and Trainees during School Experience
This is a TTA funded project that began in February 2005 and ended in July 2005. Tablet PC laptops were placed with trainees in six schools (three secondary, three primary). Web cams and headphones were provided for all participants to enable video conferencing as a means of communication during school experience.
Palmtops in Primary Schools
This was a TTA funded project that began in summer 1998 and ran for 18 months. 30 Psion 3c and Acorn palmtop computers were put into 4 partnership schools. INSET sessions were delivered in each school according to the needs and interests of the staff. Staff were encouraged to use the computers for personal/professional use as well as with the children in the classroom. Monitoring points, auditing and staff diaries of use provided the information needed to produce a report of the project.
Electronic Communication with Mentors and Trainees during School Experience
This project was funded by the TTA (hold back funding) and involved the use of Psion Revo palmtop computers and travel modems during school experience. 5 Partnership schools participated in the project. In each of these schools the mentors and trainees have each been given the equipment that enables them to read and send e-mail and use the Internet. The project encourages communication between the mentors, trainees and link tutors in the University. Trainees and mentors are particularly encouraged to communicate with their own peer group to improve support systems during school experience.
