Research Interests

My main area of research is cultural heritage tourism, particularly its dialectic role in the reconstruction of national identity, social memory and nationhood. Other research interests include: qualitative (ethnographic) research methods in tourism studies; heritage interpretation and consumption; sustainable management alternatives in the cultural heritage industries; the politics of cultural heritage tourism; and museum management and tourism development.

Teaching Interests

Heritage tourism, and cultural development in the tourism art industries; business strategy and event management; project management initiatives and tasks; communication strategies; tourism development and destination branding in East Asia; tourism systems and theoretical paradigms in the leisure industry; museum tourism and strategic management initiatives; food and beverage tourism; and sustainable alternatives (and ventures) in cultural tourism.
