- A lifelong interest in architecture, particularly the architecture of the modern movement, and in the repurposing of buildings.
- Very wide-ranging interests in environmental and product design: especially from the standpoint of achieving maximum performance using the least possible expenditure of energy and materials.
- A fascination with the effects of spatial devices and proportions on user perceptions.
- Design narrative and communication.
