Mehmet is currently doing research towards his PhD, which is based upon unmanned aerial vehicles which are able to morph to become more capable with inspirations from biological organism. He is also a Senior Design Engineer within the Autonomous Systems Lab (ASL) based at the Trent Park Campus and was a part of the MOD Grand Challenge 2008 which has resulted in valuable intellectual property for the University protected by Patent, Design Registration and Trademark. He has also worked very closely with the Metropolitan Police Force Forensic Department to design and develop a portable surveillance robot which is capable of climbing metallic street furniture such as lamp posts.
