Biography
I joined Middlesex University Business School in 2008 as Lecturer in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behaviour. In 2009, I completed my PhD in Organizational Psychology. My thesis, "Too Much of One and Less of the Other: Graduates' Conceptualizations and Expectations of 'Work-Life Balance'", explored young British and Asian university students' accounts of their transitions into employment through a life course lens and how they constructed meanings of work-life balance at this life course phase.
In 2010-2011, I completed a Richard Benjamin Trust-funded post-doctoral study, "From 'Sense of Entitlement' to 'Disenhanctment'? The Lived Experiencesof International Students in the UK". I examined the lived experiences of non-EU and non-EEA international students as temporary migrants in the context of changing immigration policy, as well as their expectations of employment during and after their studies in the UK.
I am currently involved as Co-Investigator in an ESRC-RGC-funded project, "Age Diversity: Applying the Capabilities Approach to Career Development Across the Life Course" with Dr. Matt Flynn (Principle Investigator) and research partners at Lingnan University.
I am the Associate Editor of the international journal Community, Work and Family. My most recent book is Critical issues in Human Resource Management (with Dr. Ian Roper and Dr. Rea Prouska, published by CIPD, 2010).
