    • Labs for Digital System include Xilinx FPGA, VHDL modelling (Behavioural Level and RTL) and experiments e.g. combinational logic, fixed-point and floating-point arithmetic, digital clock system modelling, 8-bit microprocessor (8051) modelling etc.

Leading curriculum planning and design at programme level when I was with Brunel University:

  • As a Level 2 Coordinator in 2004, I have always been contributing to the UG programme development and restructuring.
  • In early 2007, I took the initiative to lead a PG programme development in which I chaired to completion the curriculum planning and design of MSc Digital Signal Processing (DSP) programme which involved 6 colleagues. Specifically, I have:
    • Overseen the whole process of PG programme development.
    • Organised review meetings with other colleagues within the School to put together existing modules and assign new colleagues to write new modules for the new programme.
    • Prepared the Approval in Principle, Design Strategy, Programme Specification of the new MSc DSP programme.
    • Led the design of 4 new module specifications i.e. Advanced DSP, Advanced Multimedia Processing, Real-time DSP Systems and DSP Workshop. 3 of these new modules are currently being included in the MEng programmes.
    • Liaised with Postgraduate Committee for Approval in Principle and Quality and Standard Office for quality assurance of the Programme Specification and Module Specifications.
    • Presented the MSc DSP programme at the full approval panel with external evaluators and obtained full approval. As commented by the external examiners at the approval event, the programme was well structured with large element of practical/hands-on teachings and assessments.
    • Established contact with Brunel International to promote the programme to overseas recruitment agents and help with student recruitment. Also worked closely with Marketing Office to market the programme i.e. create brochure, open day, talks.
    • Established contact with Texas Instruments and secured a sponsorship of latest DSP equipments (hardware & software) worth ~US$137kfor the MSc DSP programme.
    • Later, I proposed changes in the MSc DSP programme in order to address the changes in staff resources and expertise as well as to enhance the skill sets covered by this programme. Thereafter, the programme has modules from ECE and MecH (cross discipline)covering wide DSP applications in the engineering field include multimedia, communications, biomedical and intelligent signal processing.
