How is the Action Enquiry for School Improvement Module taught?

This short course is structured to enable you to maintain your professional employment while advancing your learning through part-time study sessions at our London campus, online via distance learning or at a convenient location agreed between your organisation and the University (if you are part of a school or local authority cohort).

This innovative course enables you to choose the focus of your enquiry based on your own and institutional needs for improvement. Through a series of study sessions you will explore a range of key topics that will enhance your enquiry and subsequent practice, including:

  • The process of collaborative action enquiry
  • The use of action enquiry within school improvement initiatives
  • Planning action enquiry for improvement
  • Undertaking and sustaining an action enquiry for improvement

Assessment

You will be assessed through a portfolio (supervised by the module leader over the course of the year).

The portfolio may include:

  • Needs analysis
  • Professional autobiography
  • Reviewing the literature
  • Research methodology
  • Research methods
  • Data analysis

Qualifications

  • We normally require a second class honours degree 2:2 or above and working in education
  • You should be working in education and have completed at least one other CPD education module prior to commencing this module
