Why study the Delivering Evidence Based Dementia Care Module at Middlesex University?

At Middlesex we recognise the needs and challenges for mental health practitioners working with dementia sufferers in a wide range of settings. That's why we have developed this course to be beneficial for professionals working in a diverse range of sectors including health and/or social care (acute, continuing, statutory, private and voluntary), the prison service, government agencies and more.

Taught by an experienced practitioner at our state-of-the-art London campus, this course will equip you with the literature searching skills and critical appreciation of research to confidently review best practice in dementia assessment and interventions that will enhance your practice.

Through a series of lectures and seminars, you will explore the evidence base for key therapies including reality orientation, reminiscence, validation, cognitive stimulation training and counselling, with particular focus on socio-cultural and ethical factors, such as minority groups and the law.

Delivered in weekly half-day study sessions that focus on your mastery of the psycho-social and pharmacological interventions available in dementia care, this course will challenge you to reflect and evolve your current practice while also gaining substantial academic credits to put towards further study in the future.
