Department of Management, Leadership and Organisations

The contemporary business world requires critical and creative thinkers.

Our Department is a multi-disciplinary centre for international management, leadership, and organisation – at the leading-edge of academic developments.

Our mission is to develop students’ ability to engage critically, sensitively and holistically with business in a global context, across a wide range of industries. We are passionate about teaching and deliver a range of programmes (face-to-face and online), which provide our students with the skills they need to pursue successful employment.

Informed by the diverse international and cultural experience of our staff, teaching activities are designed to support and develop students’ learning on a variety of topic areas.  These range from strategy and innovation to leadership and professional practice; Corporate Social Responsibility and social entrepreneurship to gender and diversity in business; and from employment relations to organisations.

We teach professionally accredited and academically rigorous undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes including supervising of research degrees.

The learning experience of our students is at all times underpinned by the diverse cutting-edge research of our staff.

The impact of 92% of our research case studies was 'very considerable' or 'outstanding' (REF 2014)

Through embedding enterprise skills and outstanding research with real world impact in courses and initiatives across the department, we ensure that our students gain the knowledge, skills and experience to succeed in a diverse and globalised business environment.

Departmental expertise also extends to providing consultancy services, specialist projects, learning programmes, coaching activities tailored to external client needs and working with relevant professional bodies such as the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.
