Overview & facilities
The Mathematics Subject Enhancement Course is designed for graduates without a Mathematics degree hoping to enter an Initial Teacher Training course either through the PGCE or GTP route.
If you already have a degree at 2:2 or above in any subject, preferably with a mathematical content, this course brings you up to speed so that you will have the required knowledge to enter an Initial Teacher Training course to become a maths teacher.

Content & modules
Content includes:
- Exploration of the 11-18 mathematics curriculum
- Developing knowledge of core, mechanics, statistics and decision mathematics
You will experience a variety of teaching methods as well as time for private study, group work and presentations. In addition you will also spend some time in our partnership schools.
Entry & applying
Prior to applying for the course, you will need:
- A degree ( 2:2or above) in any subject ( preferably with a mathematical content)
- An ‘A’ level or equivalent in Mathematics
- A conditional place on a PGCE or GTP course

Fees & funding
The TDA covers the cost of the SKE course so you do not be required to pay tuition fees. You will receive a bursary on a monthly basis to help towards living costs.
Careers & placements
This course is specifically designed for trainees who do not have the mathematical knowledge required to enter directly onto a PGCE or GTP Mathematics course. The Subject Knowledge Enhancement course does not in itself give you Qualified Teacher Status.Open days
