Middlesex University postgraduate scholarships

Middlesex University is committed to developing awards to assist individual postgraduate students in furthering their education with us. Middlesex awards are available to postgraduate students and fall into five categories.

David Tresman Caminer Postgraduate Scholarship in Business Computing (supported by The LEO Foundation and AIT Trust)

This generous £5,000 postgraduate scholarship is available to one UK postgraduate student each year, who has demonstrated exceptional academic potential. Applications are welcome from students who have fulfilled the admission criteria and been offered a place to study for a postgraduate degree based in the School of Engineering and Information Science. A student will only be entitled to one award during his/her period of study with Middlesex University.

MSc Health Psychology Scholarships

Two £2,550 scholarships funded by friends and alumni of Middlesex are available to students applying for entry to MSc Health Psychology as a full-time student for September 2012. The scholarships will be awarded to applicants who demonstrate exemplary academic and/or professional achievement or potential. Applications are welcome from students who have been offered (conditional or unconditional) and accepted a place on the MSc Health Psychology programme. Students who receive a scholarship from another organisation cannot apply. Middlesex University alumni who apply are also eligible for the Alumni Bursary (10% fee discount) but they cannot also hold the Academic Alumni Scholarship (20% fee discount). Scholarships are in the form of a discount in tuition fees (paid in the first year of study).

International Merit Awards

Middlesex University is renowned for offering unrivalled support to International students and gives out scholarships and merit awards to International students totaling around £1,000,000 each year.

Middlesex University has a fixed number of International Merit Awards available to all potential postgraduate international students. Awards will be given on a case-by-case basis which will be dependant on your course and application.  Eligible candidates will be notified at enrolment and the award amount will be deducted from their tuition fees.

There is no application process for the International Merit Award; if students receives the award, it will be stated on their offer letter.

Alumni Bursary 

The Alumni bursary is available to all students who completed their first degree at Middlesex and have an offer for a further taught Masters programme, excluding PGCE’s and all PhD and research courses. The bursary provides recipients a 10 per cent reduction in course tuition fees and must be claimed prior to each year of study.

How to apply
Please complete and return the Alumni Bursary Form to the your Finance office or studentincome@mdx.ac.uk. Students should apply for this discount within their current academic year.

Academic Alumni Scholarship – for previous Middlesex students

The Academic Alumni Scholarship is awarded on academic merit. It was established to recognise excellent academic achievement and to encourage and assist academically able students to progress to postgraduate study. The scholarship provides recipients a 20 per cent reduction in course tuition fees for every year of academic study.

This scholarship is available to all students who have achieved a First Class degree at Middlesex University or partner college, (this excludes PGCE’s if they are in receipt of a bursary and all PhD/Research courses). Applicants must enrol on a Postgraduate course within five years of graduating.

The Academic Alumni Scholarship and the Alumni bursary cannot be held in conjunction with any other Middlesex Award or Scholarship. If you are receiving funding from external scholarships/sponsors a cash award will be considered.

How to apply
Applications can be submitted as soon as a programme of study is selected. The deadline for applications is 28 September 2012.

Please complete and return the Alumni Scholarship Application Form together with any supporting documentation, to the Scholarship Office in London.

Applications are also welcome for January 2013 entry, these must be received by 17 December 2012.

Work Based Learning Scholarships

Work Based Learning Scholarships are open to those from the EU/UK who are working in the UK voluntary and community sector (including organisations with registered charitable status) and who apply for a Masters degree in work based studies or a doctorate (DProf). There are two scholarships on offer and recipients receive £2,000 towards their tuition fees.

Unfortunately it is not possible to hold this award in conjunction with any other Middlesex scholarship or award.
