By undertaking the process of researching and writing a dissertation or applied project independently you will gain practical competence in the application of research methods, while adding to your knowledge and understanding of your chosen area of marketing.
- International and Cross-Cultural Marketing (30 Credits) - Compulsory
- The module examines the impact of culture on international and global marketing. Drawing on the theoretical frameworks and practical applications of both marketing and cross-cultural psychology, the module enables the student to identify, critically evaluate and apply relevant knowledge and derive viable solutions to complex real life problems. The principal aim of the module is to enable students towards pursuit of their career in international marketing, with skills and knowledge that will assist them in their chosen career. Students will be introduced to a wide range of analytical , managerial and theoretical techniques and concepts which experts in the field believe to be relevant and useful for international marketing. Students will be encouraged to evaluate these techniques and concepts critically and to assess how they can be adapted suitably to the contingencies of tactical and strategic marketing in target markets.
- International Political and Economic Environment (30 Credits) - Compulsory
- The aim of this module is to provide students with the tools to understand and assess the impact of global political and economic factors on international business and marketing decisions. Students will first gain insights into the relationships between international marketing decision making and global political and economic actors, issues, processes, and policies. Once the context has been set, they will then critically analyse theories of international relations, the nature of the international system, power politics, and theories of international political economy so they are in a position to assess the ways in which the interaction of diverse political systems; regulations; actors, and economic conditions can shape, impede, and modify international business and marketing decisions and outcomes. Student will then develop skills to assess the business risks that stem from globalisation; power politics and rivalries; political and economic instability; weak regimes; bribery and corruption; local and regional conflict; and volatile economic and regulatory policy, while also learning how to manage these risks using governance, social responsibility and other frameworks.
- Marketing Research (30 Credits) - Compulsory
- This module aims to develop the students ability to evaluate and interpret market intelligence reports, prepare market research proposal, critically analyse both primary and secondary data, and prepare a market research report in order to assist decision-making and strategy development.
- Strategic Marketing Management (30 Credits) - Compulsory
- This module aims to provide you with a framework for analysing marketing processes from a strategic and managerial perspective in a diverse range of organisations. In particular, the module will focus on the development and implementation of marketing strategies to help organisations gain a competitive advantage in a highly volatile operating environment.
Your knowledge and understanding will be assessed through a combination of presentations, group and individual coursework and written examinations.
