WHO IS IT FOR?
This innovative programme is suitable for any degree level practising nurse who wishes to follow a flexible modular pathway towards a masters degree or postgraduate diploma. It is particularly suited to nurses who wish to follow a clinical modular pathway to develop advanced practice. This course is only available to UK based applicants who are currently registered with the NMC, it is not available to international students.

Following completion of the MSc, you will have the opportunity to progress to PhD/DProf programmes offered by the University. You are likely to have enhanced career prospects if, on completion of the programme, you are able to demonstrate that you have met the required professional competencies for advanced practice roles as well as having a postgraduate qualification.
CONTENT
The Postgraduate Diploma consists of 120 credits, and includes a core module of 30 credits, and 90 credits of optional modules to complete the programme.
The MSc consists of 180 credits including two core modules of 90 credits and 90 credits of optional modules to complete the programme.
Core modules
Students undertaking this programme have to successfully complete two core modules, research methods; either IPL 4412 Methods of Critical Enquiry in Health Care Settings (30 credits) or WBS 4835 Work Based Learning Research Methods (30 credits). For the award of the masters degree, a dissertation, either IPL 4095 MSc Dissertation (60 credits) or WBS 4861 Work Based Learning Project (60 credits).

Pre-requisites:
A good Honours degree (2:2 or above) in nursing or a related subject area, as well as currently working as a qualified nurse and registration with the NMC. Exceptionally, students who do not have a degree but who have successfully completed level 7 CPD modules or who can provide evidence of their ability to pursue successfully postgraduate-level study may be considered.
