Pre-Teaching and Training Course

If you are considering a career change, if you are an undergraduate or recent graduate considering teaching or if you simply want to know about schools and teaching this course is for you.

This course provides an introduction to working in schools and applying for teacher training posts. It is aimed at those who want to find out more about schools and working in schools. The course is relevant for those who want to improve their chances of getting a job in schools.

Course content

The course will be made up of four two hour taught sessions at our Hendon campus plus two
days of observation in local schools. You will gain an excellent initial school experience and the basic knowledge and skills which will enhance any application you may make to an Initial Teacher Training course or post in a school. However, this does not guarantee that you will be successful in any applications you may make.

You will also gain:

  • Two days of school experience in two contrasting schools
  • Knowledge and understanding about schools, teaching and learning
  • An opportunity to plan and teach a mini lesson before your peers and your tutor
  • Advice on applying for posts in schools and teacher training courses

Session sixWednesday 15 MarchTowards a career in teaching: Applications and personal statements
