Exchange and Study Abroad applications

What is the difference between Exchange and Study Abroad?

Middlesex's Student Exchange programme involves a reciprocal exchange of students with a partner institution. Please check with your exchange office to determine if Middlesex has a student exchange agreement with your institution. Student exchange relationships generally specify that students will pay fees at their home institution and the Middlesex tuition fee is waived.

Students on our Study Abroad programme are entitled to the same rights as an exchange student but the tuition fees are paid to Middlesex directly or via the home institution's study abroad office.

Admission requirements

As part of the application procedure, students are required to submit a copy of their academic transcript. Our admissions team will review your transcript to determine if you are academically suitable for the programme.

If you are an international student whose first language is not English, you need to make sure that your English is sufficient to be able to study at Middlesex University. All students will need to have completed a year of college/university level study or be registered at a college/university before being accepted on the study abroad programme.

Application procedures

Exchange and Erasmus applicants

In the first instance, please contact the exchange office at your home institution for advice on the application procedure. Before we can accept your application form, you must first be nominated by your home institution. Nominations need to be sent by your institution's exchange Erasmus coordinator to exchange admissions.

Study Abroad applicants(Fee Paying)

The Study Abroad programme welcomes students from partners or third party providers to take classes at Middlesex over the full academic year. Students are required to pay the tuition fee via our partner institution or directly to Middlesex University.

Please complete the application form.  The completed application form must then be submitted to our Admissions Office, (address stated at the bottom of the form) with an official copy of your most recent transcript and a photocopy of the back photo page of your current passport.

Tuition Fees for the academic year 2011/12

Student typeFee
International£ 9,870
European Union£ 3,290

Please consult your campus international office to see if your institution offer students a reduced tuition fee.

Internships

If you would also like to apply for the internship module you will need to complete a separate internship application form, accompanied by a CV and statement of motivation in addition to the study abroad application form.

To apply you must submit the following:

  • Your completed application form
  • A copy of your most recent transcript
  • A photocopy of the back photo page of your current passport
  • Any further supporting documentation where required

Application deadline

We have a rolling admission for our Exchange and Study Abroad Programme and can accept applications throughout the year. It is important to note that your home institution may have an alternative deadline and you should contact your own study abroad advisor in the first instance.

The deadline for applications is 1 May. The earlier the applications are received, the better the chances of receiving on campus accommodation, as vacant rooms beyond July are limited.

International students wishing to study, work, volunteer or complete an internship in the UK may be required to apply for the INF5 student visa before arrival. Please consult with the British Embassy or Consulate to enquire about the application process.
