Course overview:
The aim of this module is to provide you with the basic knowledge and understanding of computer hardware, networking and current operating systems concepts and related terminology in order to explain the structure of stand-alone, distributed and networked computers and their operation. By taking this module you will gain an understanding of how currently available computer and network hardware enables modern computers to function as networked, multi-media machines and will develop a range of important transferable skills. The module will consist of theoretical concept building, terminology exercises and laboratory experiments.
