Course overview:
This module explains the general principles, which underlie the protection given to consumers and the ways in which those principles are applied. The module covers national law, EU law and gives comparisons with other jurisdictions. Topics of central importance are those of consumer redress, product quality, product safety, consumer services law, holidays, consumer insurance and finance. The area of self-regulation by business and industry is also covered.

Pre-requisites:
Some knowledge of the English legal system and contract law (Middlesex students require: LAW1102 and LAW1104 and either LAW1108 or LAW1101). Middlesex students studying for an LLB award should register for LAW2114 and Middlesex students studying for BA Law award should register for LAW2050.
