Because we know that your well being is central to your academic success, we offer a range of services to make your experience with us as smooth as we can, as well as ensuring that your time at Summer School is happy and successful.

Accommodation

Halls of residence are available to all Summer School students.

They are located on the Trent Park campus and offer single study bedrooms and shared basic kitchen and bathroom facilities. Accommodation is limited and early booking is advisable to secure a place. Click the following link for more information about Summer School Accommodation.

Facilities

You will have access to the range of University facilities, including:

Library and computing
Learning Resources (LR) provides library and academic computing services to support student learning.  At enrolment on the first day of your course you will be able to book an induction session which will provide the following information:

How to log on to the computers (PC and Mac) for the internet and email
How to use our e-books, e-journals and databases to find quality information.
How to borrow books, DVDs, CDs, etc from the libraries
How to print and copy
 
Catering
You will find a range of facilities to suit your needs. In the Students' Union building there is the N14 cafe facility and a bar. The N14 cafe serves hot and cold food, including a range of Halal and vegetarian options.  Students can also socialise in the N14 bar where weekly events are organised.  There are three catering facilities on site at Hendon, the Quad Cafe offering refreshments and snacks, the Forum, a large refectory offering meals from a number of outlets and the library cafe. A large range of cafes, bars and restaurants can be found within walking distance of the campus.

Sport
Sports enthusiasts are well catered for at the Summer School. Trent Park has its own outdoor swimming pool, small gym, sports hall, fitness trail and a thousand acres of rolling parkland, perfect for walkers and joggers. University sports service staff are also available to help students organise other sports activities, such as volley ball.  As well as the outdoor pool, Summer School students can access classes in yoga, aqua aerobics, general aerobics and circuit training on a pay as you go basis. Social programme
The Summer School runs an extensive social and cultural programme and students are invited to take part in a wide range of events including trips to historic sites, theatre visits and on-campus events.

Kids activity camp
During the school holidays a kids activity camp is scheduled to run at Trent Park. This will offer multi-sports and arts and crafts to children from 5 to 11 years of age. For more information please contact Stella Sipple, email: s.sipple@mdx.ac.uk,

Transport

A free university mini-bus service runs between the Trent Park campus and nearby Oakwood underground station (Piccadilly Line). The bus runs every 15 minutes and the journey is less than 5 minutes. Central London, with all its theatres, restaurants, bars, museums and culture is only a 35 minute tube journey from Oakwood. Hendon is also easily accessible by public transport systems.

Access for people with disabilities

Middlesex University has a positive approach to equal opportunities and will ensure, wherever possible, that appropriate provision is made. However, there is currently incomplete physical access at the Trent Park campus for people who are wheelchair users or who have restricted mobility. Prospective students with mobility difficulties, are advised to arrange a visit to the campus before confirming acceptance of a study place.

Language and Learning Support

English Language and Learning support sessions to help students develop study, essay writing and revision skills will run throughout the Summer School. More information about these, including a timetable, will be available from the library during Summer School.

Summer School Office

Located in the Garden Cottage, opposite the Nursery at Trent Park, the Summer School office is open extended hours throughout the summer, with friendly staff on-hand to provide you with all the help and advice you need.
