Our extensive range of studios and workshops allow you to work with both older, traditional technology, as well as state-of-the-art techniques which will really broaden the skills you learn and your artistic possibilities. All of the Art and Design facilities and learning resource centres are staffed with a range of specialist technicians who will work with you to help you achieve your creative goals.

3D Workshops
The extensive network of 3D Workshops houses an incredible range of facilities and machinery, from 5 Dimensional milling machines and CAM-CAD lathes in the CAM Lab, Mig, Tig and Arc Welding equipment, large CNC Router, computer controlled lathes and saw tables in the metal and woodworking area, laser cutters, perspex oven and vacuum forming machines in the plastics area.

Ceramics Workshop
A wide range of specialist equipment for the creation of three dimensional pottery and sculpture. There are ceramics kilns, ceramics printing and body casting facilities and potters wheels.

Black and White Darkrooms
With over 50 enlargers and print developing areas using classic wet process methods, this area also has a film processing room and an area dedicated to negative scanning and digital collation of images.

Digital Darkroom
A state of the art digital editing and output facility, with 45 calibrated Macs networked to professional level photographic printers with the latest industry standard software. Specialist technicians are on hand to help you achieve your creative goals.

Digital Media Workshop
55 dual screen workstations are equipped with state of the art computing, software, DVD and video editing facilities for moving image and digital film and video work. There are also10 Alienware computers specifically for games design.

Fashion and Textiles Workshops
We have two extensive and well equipped Fashion workshops housing an up to date range of equipment including industrial sewing machines and overlockers, a range of specialist machines for working with different fabrics and techniques and also state of the art pressing and heat press equipment. There are large cutting tables either in the workshops or in adjoining studios.
Students have access to all workshops on the campus - the digital embroidery and print equipment and laser cutting facilities are used extensively by Fashion students. -
Letterpress Typographic Workshop
A wide range of traditional wooden and lead moveable type. Students are able to produce short run largely typographic and symbolic work that has a visual sophistication, texture and vitality, difficult to achieve using purely computer based typography.

Art and Design Learning Resources Centre
Over 75,000 books and a wide range of current and historic periodicals, magazines and newspapers covering all areas of art and design. There is also an extensive collection of film, video and DVD sources with viewing facilities. In addition, the Open Access Computing area is part of the Learning Resources centre. Students have open access to Apple Macintosh and PC computers, and the opportunity to book time on more specialist moving image editing suites.

Museum of Domestic Design and Architecture
Two exhibition galleries tell the story of ordinary homes in the twentieth century, providing a rich source of inspiration for artists, designers and makers – as well as an outstanding resource unique to Middlesex students.

Photographic Studio
Includes an infinity cove for portrait, full figure or group photography applications. There’s also 3-D, portraiture, close up and macro photographic work. The colourama for fashion, figure and portraiture, with overhead lighting tracks and two colourama systems for easy change of background colour and effects. Professional lighting includes synchronised flash and tungsten lights, reflectors and diffusers.

Print Workshop
One of the largest and best equipped in the country including screenprint, intaglio, etching, engraving and stone litho facilities. The open access area has printing tables, etching presses, aquatint cabinets, high pressure hose screen cleaning room and lino and litho preparation areas.

Reprographics and Digital Output
Has an extensive range of professional printers able to print in full colour on high quality paper from digital files. The sizes of output available range from A3 to 48 inches wide and 8 feet long!

Jewellery and Small Metals Workshop
A wide range of specialist equipment for the creation of three dimensional jewellery, accessories and other artefacts including traditional jewellery benches, laser cutter, laser welder, rapid prototype machine, rotary polisher, and vacuum casting unit.
