Why study BA Business Management (Project Management) top up at Middlesex?
Tailored towards ambitious students who are keen to apply theory to practice in a business environment, you will learn how organisations operate from developing strategy to management styles. Supported by academics who bring industry experience to their teaching, you will study the key functions that underpin business success, along with the advanced skills in order to deliver business projects on time and on budget, within agreed timescales and with allocated resources.
Our one-year Business Management (Project Management) top up course is for students who already hold a business foundation or HND qualification, and are based in either the UK or overseas. It prepares you to enter a diverse range of businesses, governmental and third sector organisations.
Our Enterprise Development Hub can support you to start your own business, and develop essential entrepreneurial skills for a successful business career
The two compulsory modules are designed to advance your skills and knowledge in business, management and project management. They are: Strategic Management and Managing Business Projects. You will also choose two options from: Managing and Developing Projects with Software, Developing Successful Project Plans, Operations Management Modelling or a research project.

Academic credit for previous study or experience
If you have achieved a qualification such as a foundation degree or HND, or have gained credit at another university, you may be able to enter a Middlesex University course in year two or three. For further information please visit our Transfer students page.

English language requirements for international students
You must have competence in English language to study with us. The most commonly accepted evidence of English language ability is IELTS 6.0 (with minimum 5.5 in all four components). Entry onto this course does not require an interview, entrance test, portfolio or audition.
What are the career options with a BA Business Management degree?
Project managers can be employed in almost every industry, from introducing a new computer system to overseeing a large building project. Whatever the project, your work would typically include:
finding out what the client or company wants to achieve
agreeing the timescales, costs and resources needed
drawing up a detailed plan and schedule for how to achieve each stage of the project
selecting and leading a project team
negotiating with contractors and suppliers for materials and services
making sure that each stage of the project is progressing on time, on budget and to the right quality standards
reporting regularly on progress to the client or to senior managers
managing risk to avoid delays to the project.
Part of your work could involve using particular project management methods such as PRINCE2 (Projects in Controlled Environments) or PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) to break down the project into stages and monitor its progress. You would also use specialised software to help with scheduling, costing, and risk analysis.
