What are the costs of studying at university?
The two main costs of going to university are tuition fees and living costs.
Tuition fees – are the fees that are paid to the university by you or by the student loan’s company on your behalf. This covers teaching and assessment and the amount is different for UK/EU students and International students – see fees and funding
Living costs – these are your weekly outgoings such as rent, travel, food, social, phone bills, books for your course
Funding for these costs can come from your own savings, however the majority of students take out a loan with the Student Loan’s Company (SLC). Find out more and apply at www.studentfinanceengland.co.uk
Can I get part time work whilst I study?
Many of our undergraduate students have part time jobs to help support themselves financially.
As well as there being many casual part time jobs available in the London suburbs closest to our campuses, there are also great transport links from campus into central London - where there are lots of job opportunities. Our careers service can help you.
There are also lots of opportunities to get involved at the university as a student ambassador. This could include helping out at induction, open days and going out to events in schools and colleges.
However, be realistic about the amount of hours you can commit to each week, it is important to ensure that you can balance your studies and part time job.
