Overview & facilities

This programme appeals to registered Midwives who wish to broaden their knowledge and skills in this area. We have devised the curriculum to ensure it reflects contemporary midwifery issues and encompasses a holistic approach to the care of women, their babies and their families. The curriculum includes the application of biological, psychological and sociological sciences to the study of midwifery.
You gain Clinical experience in a variety of appropriate hospital and community settings

Entry requirements

This course is for registered midwives with a diploma qualification, who wish to top-up to obtain a degree qualification.

Applying

Applications for study to this Top Up course should be made directly to the university. You will need to fill in the application form and return it to the Professional Programmes Admissions office in London at healthadmissions@mdx.ac.uk or Professional Programmes Admissions, Middlesex University, Hendon Campus, The Burroughs, Hendon NW4 4BT.

Other Requirements

To begin the course you must also complete a satisfactory enhanced CRB check, Occupational Health Check, and provide suitable references.

English language requirements

You must have competence in English language and we normally require Grade C GCSE or an equivalent qualification. The most common English Language requirements for international students are IELTS 6.0 (with minimum 5.5 in all four components) or TOEFL internet based 72 (with at least 17 in listening & writing, 20 in speaking and 18 in reading).

Middlesex also offers an Intensive Academic English course (Pre-Sessional) that ranges from 5-17 weeks depending on your level of English. Applicant Days are specifically for students who have applied to Middlesex and have been made an offer.  The Applicant day is a chance for you to take a closer look at the course that you have chosen to study.  You will attend a taster session, meet your course leader and fellow applicants, meet current students and tour the campus with them.  Invitations will be sent to applicants prior to the events.
