Overview & facilities
This programme is ideal preparation for anyone wishing to work with young people in a variety of settings including youth work , mentoring, support work (mental health), youth justice and community work.
Foundation Degrees are not Honours Degrees but are approximately at the level of the first two years of an Honours Degree. They provide a practical, work related approach to learning, through integrated academic and work-based learning. They are designed in partnership with employers to equip graduates with the knowledge, understanding and skills relevant to their employment. Indeed, these vocational qualifications are highly regarded by employers because the graduates are already prepared for the world of work and able to apply the right skills immediately. Foundation Degrees are qualifications in their own right indeed graduates are entitled to use letters after their name i.e. FdA. Graduates can either progress directly into work or go on to study for an Honours Degree (this usually takes about a year).
