Chris Mabey, Professor of Human Resource Management
Until December 2012 Chris was Professor of HRM and Founder-Director of the Centre for Leadership at the University of Birmingham (CLUB). He leads international research on knowledge exchange in global networks and has written widely on management and leadership development. During his career, Chris has worked as an Occupational Psychologist for British Telecom, served as a student counsellor in a Christian charity and headed up Management Training for Rank Xerox UK.
Big Lessons from Big Science
Based on his research with ATLAS, a global particle physics experiment with a campus-hub at CERN near Geneva, Chris explores some fallacies concerning knowledge-gain which affect us all. For all their efforts to secure and exchange precious knowledge nuggets, why do so many organisations (including universities) fail to leverage the full potential of what they know? What does research tell us about remedying this?
