Documentary photographer Simon Wheatley showcases a five-day photography and visual shorts exhibition, which contributes to Middlesex University School of Law's conference 'A New Direction on the Question of London Street Gangs?' taking place on Friday 5 September 2014.
Don't Call Me Urban is the name of Wheatley's new book dedicated to analysing the culture of 'grime' that has burst out of London's decaying council estates over the past decade, which he conveys via a series of compelling photos, including portraits and commentary from the likes of Dizzee Rascal.
At the opening ceremony of the exhibition, which begins at 12pm on Monday 1 September in the Grove Atrium at Middlesex's Hendon campus, Wheatley will be signing copies of Don't Call Me Urban, which will be available for purchase.
