St Mary's Parish Church, Church End, Hendon, London, NW4 4JT
The third event in our Concerts & Colloquia series is hosted by St Mary's Parish Church in Hendon at the slightly later time of 7.30pm.
Works by Middlesex's Director of Music Dr Peter Fribbins (First String Quartet, 'I Have the Serpent Brought'), and 2014 BA Music graduate Ellis Coopey (String Quartet, tbc) will be performed by the Allegri Quartet.
Renditions of Beethoven (String Quartet, Op. 18/3) and Mendelssohn (String Quartet No. 6 in F minor, Op. 80) will also feature.
The Allegri Quartet recently celebrated its 60th anniversary, making it the oldest chamber group in Britain. It has worked with composers such as Benjamin Britten, Michael Tippett, Elizabeth Maconchy, John Woolrich, Anthony Payne, James MacMillan, Matthew Taylor and Alec Roth, collaborating with new commissions and recordings.
"The current line-up plays with elegance and cleanness of detail. Avoiding heavy gesture in favour of nimble energy" - Fiona Maddocks, Independent on Sunday.
Our weekly Concerts and Colloquia series brings high-calibre guest speakers and performers from across music to Middlesex.
Hosted by the Music department, all events are free and will be followed by refreshments. Guests can simply turn up, tickets are not required. If you have any questions please contact Nick Nikeforou.
