Middlesex University welcomes staff, students and friends to an evening seminar looking at LGBT students' needs in higher education.

The first in our Evening Public Seminar Series as part of LGBT History Month, this seminar will explore Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) issues with a focus on students' needs and support within higher education. We welcome a discussion on what steps universities need to take into account to support LGBT individuals and create a friendly environment.

Our guest speaker is former Middlesex University student Rebecca Manning. Rebecca graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Nursing (Mental Health field) in 2014. As a lesbian with a trans history, she is determined to highlight the issues facing the LGBT community and work to address them.

Combining Nursing with a Company Directorship, she has founded a social enterprise, Pride Voyager – a membership-based website with a mission to help those in the LGBT community. "I know first-hand how challenging it is to be yourself when you feel that you could lose everything," Rebecca says. "I want to make coming out and, more importantly, being out a far easier experience."

Light refreshments will be provided. For more information and to RSVP, contact Alfonso Pezzella.
