Hatchcroft Building, Room HG19
Middlesex University, The Burroughs, London NW44BT
In his inaugural lecture, 'Auteurs, flâneurs and other myths', Damian Sutton will reflect on the ways in which authorship has a specific currency in film, photography and cultural practice, and in arts education. Whilst Damian has written on the philosophy of cinema and photography, on digital issues in photography, film and television, and on cinema production more widely, he has something on his mind.
Damian Sutton is Professor of Photography, Film and Visual Culture. He attended the Winchester School of Art, De Montfort University, University of Southampton and University of Glasgow. He came second in a Junior Sports Photography competition (regional) in 1989. His most recent paper is published in the Journal of Popular Film and Television, and reports on a project that looks at, amongst other things, flooring materials in Fred and Ginger movies.
The lecture will be preceded by tea at 4:30pm and followed by a buffet and drinks reception in the Foyer, Ground Floor, Hatchcroft Building.
