Transitions between Practice and Theory - This one-week course will help practitioners/students to further develop their dance and writing skills while introducing them to current academic systems of study at HE level

Students warm up during a dance lesson

The summer intensive aims to support those returning to academic study and/or students beginning to enter academic study after a traditional movement focus, by preparing students in accessing and developing literature reviews, citation methods, academic writing structures and written expression of physical experiences.

The course aims to help practitioners develop confidence in what they have to offer as academic students and to encourage students to draw on their somatic knowing of movement to inform their ideas and writing.

It is open to all students currently enrolled or anticipating enrollment on the MA Professional Practice Dance Technique Pedagogy and the BA Professional Practice (Arts) programmes as well as the wider community of dance practitioners.
